We’re delighted to share exciting news from the Rüdiger Foundation. We welcomed our third K9 Officer and Handler for Nevada County earlier this year. Please join us in welcoming State Parks Officer Martin Gilbertson and K9 Miro to the RüF family— Officer Gilbertson and K9 Miro have relocated from the Malibu area and have settled in nicely into our area. You will find the 2 of them patrolling our local State Parks and river canyons.
Western Nevada County now has THREE qualified and trained K9 Officers on patrol. The benefit is clear. Rüdiger, Kano and now Miro have been invaluable in helping to de-escalate potentially dangerous suspect contacts, conduct building searches, track and apprehend suspects, and in narcotics detection. Our intention for this upcoming year is to provide complete 24/7 coverage by assisting the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office in attaining 2 K9 Officers.
Rüdiger Foundation was created to identify and attract funding to provide our small communities with K9 resources. Each year, we hold a single fundraiser to raise the funds needed to sustain current K9 Officers and purchase additional dogs. As there is no public funding for this effort, we must depend on the support of our community.
